I read some of the suggestions in the comments below and one person wanted me to predigest Antonia's postings before she could be moved to comment on them here.
Hey, lady, she's already predigesting the freakin' news for ya. Do I have to do it too?
Okay, you're right. You can't have too many filters. We're all busy men and women and someone has to boil opinion down to its absolute essence so we're to able to swallow enough of it to get our mental bearings.
Isn't that right?
The blogosphere is the new Reader's Digest (a very popular magazine).
Anyway, I do have something to say about Antonia. In fact, I told her that I have the impression that she has an unsettling attraction to conspiracy theories and that it's only the fact that she's a rational person that holds her back from whole-hearted commitment.
Why would I think such a thing? Well, when I first met her at
The Toronto Bloggers Bash, she made a point of telling
Damian Penny that the 911 black box was never found. "What does that mean?" I thought. "Bush did it?"
Then a few weeks ago, she wrote something about the
Bilderberg meetings that reinforced my impression of the love of the cabal.
She's says I'm wrong-headed. And, hey, maybe
I'm one of those guys who make women psycho. (I can think of a few women who might agree). But the point here is: What do you think about her, not me.
I have to admit, this quote makes it look like I'm wrong, My attitude is, the rich and powerful already run the world, most of them openly. Money always talked. People like this have connections and influence even if they don't get together for a behind-closed-doors chowdown and chatfest once a year.
But the spirit of the posting makes me feel I'm right.
"Money talks". What does that mean? Who's supposed to have influence? The homeless? If the average jo decides to devote her time to a cause, she can do a hell of a lot. And, look, she might even get backing from George Soros (or Tereza Heinz Kerry).
You know what made me sick? Hearing that the Premier of Ontario charged developers ten thousand bucks to have dinner with him. Even though his government eventually went against their wishes, the impression of a payoff is hard to banish.
